...then fix it!

The kayak shop shipped a new boat to me, provided I chop off a piece (with rudder attached) of the old one and mail it to them. I tried to do it neatly, in case it can be repaired enough to get some use out of it. For a challenge, see if you can spot the difference between these two kayaks:

Crappie Fishing on Lake Hartwell/Seneca River

Sharon and I visited her parents this weekend. I arranged to go fishing with local crappie legend "Brother Chris" on Saturday, but couldn't get in touch with him Friday night. His brother-in-law told me how to get to his fishing spot, but we still didn't run into each other. Later, he told me we were fishing approx. 1 mile from each other. I caught 5 and... he caught 19. But mine were eaten gourmet-style thanks to Sharon and her mom and sister, with homemade hushpuppies and some amazing Kale. I'm convinced we ate better than bro. Chris, which serves him right for catching so many.

There's a hole in my kayak, dear Liza

My last post was carefully written to be 100% disaster-free. However, I just took a trip to the garage to drool over my new boat, and noticed a big hole in the deck. I stared at it for a long time, hoping that it would stop being a big hole. But I'm now convinced that the freight company dropped it, and the hole is real. Take a look:

New Kayak!

I sold my bass boat on ebay about two weeks ago. The winner gave a good price for it, and I was glad to see it go. I have already replaced it with a sand colored Hobie Outfitter "Fish" tandem kayak. It has two Mirage drive pedal systems, a sail, and lots of other neat stuff that came with the fish package. Here's a picture of it:
